Channel 4's brand-new romantic sitcom about exes who live together confirms release date

There's nothing more awkward and complicated than when you break up with your other half but still have to live with them because your rental contract isn't up yet, right? Well, Channel 4 has bottled all those messy feelings for its new sitcom Break Clause.

Starring How to Have Sex and Ackley Bridge's Samuel Bottomley and Make That Movie's Lara Ricote as exes Ben and Lil, the six-part series will premiere on Channel on Thursday, 1 October at 10pm. All episodes will also be available on the Channel 4 streaming service on the same day.

As well as announcing the release date, the broadcaster has also released the show's official trailer today.

Focusing more on the drama than the comedy, the trailer shows us that Ben seems chill about the whole 'pretending to just be flatmates and not a former couple' thing than Lil is.

And although they both seem to be pursuing new romantic interests (Lil more successfully by the looks of things), it looks like they still really want to be together.

You might have also noticed Saturday Night Live UK cast members Hammed Animashaun and Jack Shep in the newly released trailer.

There's actually quite a few recognisable faces in the supporting cast, including Cold Feet's John Thomson, Taskmaster's Jessica Knappett, The Durrells' Lucy Black.

The cast also includes Only Murders in the Building's Catherine Cohen, The Lazarus Project's Charly Clive, This is Going to Hurt's Michael Workéyè, Our Flag Means Death's Nathan Foad, Boarders' Assa Kanouté, and Coronation Street's Jack James Ryan.

Behind the scenes, the show has been created by The Outlaws' Jess Bray and was directed by New Zealand comedian and Starstruck co-writer Alice Snedden.

Break Clause premieres at 10pm on 1 October on Channel 4. The entire six-episode season drops on streaming on the same day.
