The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered some stolen valuables worth millions of naira following a robbery incident in Birshi Gandu, on the outskirts of Bauchi metropolis.

The suspects were arrested following a distress report and a coordinated operation involving police operatives and community members.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, four residents of Birshi Gandu, comprising two men and two women, reported at the E-Division on October 17, 2026, that three armed men had invaded their compound, which houses Cozy Resort Hotel, while they were asleep.

The hoodlums, reportedly armed with knives and machetes, allegedly dispossessed the victims of several valuables, including Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23 phones, Redmi Note 14, iPhones, iPads, a Lenovo laptop, a Samsung tablet, power banks, AirPods, office identity cards and a driver’s licence.

The statement read, “Sequel to the report, and in a swift and coordinated response bolstered by operatives of E-Division Yelwa and the courageous community members who tracked one of the stolen phones, two suspects were apprehended.”

The suspects were identified as Abdulshakur Adamu, 20, popularly known as Dan Oga, of Jahun, and Rabiu Usman, 21, of Sabon Layi, Bauchi.

The police said the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation and disclosed that they conspired with one Kabiru, also known as KB, of Birshi Gandu, who is currently at large.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and revealed that they conspired with one Kabiru, aka KB, of Birshi Gandu, who is now at large,” the statement added.

The command said a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of three smartphones, two power banks, a headphone and a USB cable, which the victims positively identified as their property.

A sharp knife was also recovered as an exhibit.

The State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for further investigation.

According to the statement, the investigation is aimed at arresting the fleeing suspect, recovering the remaining stolen items and ensuring the diligent prosecution of those involved.

The commissioner commended the victims and community members for their courage and cooperation with the police, as he noted that the incident underscored the importance of community participation in crime prevention and security.

The statement quoted the command as reassuring residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property while urging members of the public to provide credible and timely information to security agencies.
