Coronation Street teases new Christina mystery as she struggles with a secret

Coronation Street is set to tease a new mystery surrounding Christina Boyd in cryptic scenes. The funeral parlour employee will be centered in a new storyline revolving around a Rachel Parkinson.

George explains that Rachel was mum to Sally and Tim Metcalfe's foster child, Lucy, and Christina appears to have a secret link to the deceased - but what?

In scenes set to air on Wednesday (23 September), George Shuttleworth shows Christina a folder he's made for Rachel's memorial.

However, Christina spots something on the screen that visibly rattles her and makes her pale.

Seeing she's on edge, George asks Christina if she is okay, but she quickly makes an excuse saying she is experiencing a "hot flush" and flees.

But what has shocked Christina to her core, and how does it relate to Rachel and teenager Lucy?

"Christina opens up to George about her complex history," our source previously told us. "George knows the right thing to do is sit tight and listen, so he does exactly that.

"Christina is really appreciative of him hearing her out, and George makes it clear that he is there for her no matter what. It's a lovely moment during a tricky time for Christina."

Since being introduced in 2023, Corrie hasn't fleshed out Christina's backstory more than she was the estranged biological mother of Daisy Midgeley.

After initially appearing as a recurring guest character, Christina soon became a regular face on the cobbles, becoming a cleaner for George at the funeral parlour before striking up a romantic relationship and moving into number 11.

She has worked her way up the chain at the funeral parlour, being promoted to assistant funeral director, with George's tuition in the role leading her to this recent discovery.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
