Foreign participation in capital market strengthens considerably in half-year 2026

Foreign investor participation in the capital markets strengthened considerably in the first half of 2026, according to the September 2026 Monetary Policy Report.
This supported a decline in the risk of capital flight.
The improvement was on the back of the issuance of the new bonds amidst improved macroeconomic conditions and financial market prospects.
According to the report, improved macroeconomic conditions, declining sovereign risk perceptions, and continued exchange rate stability contributed to maintaining investor confidence and reducing the risk of sudden capital outflows.
Overall, foreign investor participation is expected to remain robust if current macroeconomic stability is sustained.
Sovereign Risk Spreads
Meanwhile, Ghana's sovereign risk spreads have been relatively stable since the last Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting and compared favourably with peer economies in the sub-Saharan Africa region.
The stability reflects improved investor sentiment, and this is expected to have a positive knock-on effect on the country's risk ratings while supporting inflows of portfolio investment and foreign direct investment.
