Warning! SPOILERS ahead for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 3, episode 4.One storyline in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 3 just undid all the work that earned one character their redemption in Young Sheldon. The Big Bang Theory’s first spinoff being Young Sheldon codified the focus that had initially only been incidental on Sheldon by telling the story of his childhood in Texas. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage picking up right where Young Sheldon left off inevitably meant that The Big Bang Theory spinoff continued storylines that Young Sheldon had already drawn attention to.
First Marriage and Young Sheldon sharing characters, despite the more recent prequel centering on the McAllisters rather than the Coopers, wholly confirmed that, and it couldn’t have been more evident than in the feud between Audrey and Mary. The two began competing on Young Sheldon shortly after Mandy and Audrey reconciled, as Audrey wanted to be more involved in Mandy’s life after shunning her. Their feud nevertheless spilled over into Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, only that this time, Audrey and Mary fought over time with CeeCee.
That proved also the case in First Marriage season 3, episode 4, although CeeCee’s dinosaur costume was the point of contention. The disagreement became exponentially worse when it affected other characters, and Missy bore the brunt of that. However, the biggest change was notably in Mary, who, in her attempts to come up on top, showed her least understanding side, turning back into the villain that Young Sheldon had initially described, especially in the way she horribly treated Missy.
Mary's Conflict With Missy Makes Her Recent GMFM Worse
In its seven seasons, Young Sheldon highlighted time and time again how Mary favored Sheldon over Missy and Georgie. While Mary generally let Georgie be, except for some specific occasions like when he decided to leave high school without graduating, that was never the case with Missy. Indeed, Mary not only always assumed the worst of Missy when there were suspicions of misbehavior, but she also simultaneously ignored Missy when there were more pressing things on her mind, so much so that Missy’s mistreatment was also reflected through Young Sheldon’s storytelling as a whole.
While Young Sheldon season 7 toned down this quality of Mary, what happened in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 3, episode 4 brought it back to the forefront. Mary deciding to date Fred even if that endangered her relationship with Georgie was already a hint of her behavior worsening. However, her decision to bring a costume she made for CeeCee to the McAllisters’ despite knowing Audrey was sewing one for her proved the straw that broke the camel’s back.
While the main conflict in First Marriage season 3, episode 4 was between Mary and Audrey, and indirectly Georgie, it ended up negatively affecting Missy directly. Indeed, while Missy and Mary’s fight was originally about Missy’s costume, what made it exponentially worse was Mary jumping to conclusions about Missy despite having no proof that she egged their house. Only that led Missy to move in with the McAllisters at the end of the episode, also proving that Mary was back to her worst self, visible in her behavior with Audrey, and more importantly, Missy.
How Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Can Fix Missy & Mary's Tragic Story
Mary and Missy’s relationship has always been complex, and Missy has been at the receiving end of Mary’s worst assumptions and judgments in three of the five series in The Big Bang Theory franchise. Their relationship being strained in the original series, which is set in the future compared to Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, makes it impossible for Missy and Mary’s bond to be healthier in The Big Bang Theory’s prequels.
Nevertheless, First Marriage season 3 must fix the current predicament Missy and Mary find themselves in. The synopsis for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 3, episode 5 reveals that Missy will still be at the McAllisters. Given that she cannot continue to live there indefinitely, as it would ruin Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s premise, something must happen to reconcile Mary and Missy.

For ten seasons, six friends gathered at a Manhattan coffee shop with a famously orange couch. The group — Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe — made this spot their second living room. What is the name of this iconic café?
✓ Correct! Central Perk is the coffee shop where the Friends gang spent most of their free time. With its iconic orange couch and Gunther behind the counter pining for Rachel, it became one of the most recognizable fictional locations in TV history.
✗ Cue the sad trombone! The answer is Central Perk. MacLaren’s Pub is from How I Met Your Mother, Monk’s Café is from Seinfeld, and The Coffee Bean is a real chain. Central Perk is where Phoebe played “Smelly Cat” and six friends became family.

The American version of The Office follows the employees of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, led by their well-meaning but painfully awkward regional manager. Which actor played the beloved Michael Scott?
✓ Correct! Steve Carell turned Michael Scott into one of the most iconic sitcom characters ever. His mix of cringe-worthy humor and surprising heart anchored The Office for seven seasons. “That’s what she said” became an inescapable pop culture catchphrase.
✗ Cue the sad trombone! The answer is Steve Carell. Rainn Wilson played Dwight Schrute, Ed Helms was Andy Bernard, and Ricky Gervais created the original British version and played David Brent. Carell’s Michael Scott is the heart and soul of the American Office.

Often called “the show about nothing,” this groundbreaking 1990s sitcom followed a fictionalized version of a stand-up comedian and his three friends in New York City as they obsessed over life’s minor annoyances. Which show is it?

In this CBS sitcom, a father in the year 2030 tells his children the winding, years-long story of how he met their mother. Along the way, audiences meet Barney Stinson, whose catchphrase “Legen — wait for it — dary!” became iconic. Which show is this?
✓ Correct! How I Met Your Mother (2005–2014) starred Josh Radnor as Ted Mosby and Neil Patrick Harris as the suit-obsessed Barney Stinson. The show’s creative framing device and running gags made it a 2000s staple — though its controversial finale still divides fans.
✗ Cue the sad trombone! The answer is How I Met Your Mother. New Girl featured Jess and the loft gang, Happy Endings was a short-lived cult favorite, and The Big Bang Theory focused on Pasadena physicists. Only HIMYM gave us Barney’s Playbook and the blue French horn.

✗ Cue the sad trombone! The answer is Cheers. Taxi was a late-70s/early-80s sitcom, Night Court was set in a courtroom, and Wings was actually created by Cheers writers but set at an airport. Only Cheers gave us Sam and Diane, Norm’s barstool, and one of TV’s all-time great theme songs.

✗ Cue the sad trombone! The answer is Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Parks and Recreation was set in Pawnee’s government offices, Scrubs took place in a hospital, and Superstore was set in a big-box retailer. Only B99 featured the 99th Precinct and the legendary Jake-Holt dynamic.

Are you a showrunner — or still binge-watching reruns on the couch?
While in the past Georgie would have acted as an intermediary to help Missy and Mary mend their relationship, his fight with Mary stops him from doing so in First Marriage season 3. Audrey being willing to host Missy at the McAllisters just to spite Mary also makes a reconciliation between Mary and Missy more difficult, meaning that something else needs to happen to bring Missy back home.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage cannot go against The Big Bang Theory’s canon, so it cannot better Missy and Mary’s relationship drastically. However, to resolve the terrible dispute with Missy, Mary needs to apologize in First Marriage season 3. After all, no matter Missy’s antics, Mary is the responsible adult in the relationship. Given her fight with Georgie and feud with Audrey, there is no other logical path for Mary. Moreover, it would be the right thing to do after proving once again to only expect the worst from Missy, making Mary’s repentance in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage imperative.
