Antim Panghal won the silver medal in the women’s 53kg wrestling event after suffering defeat in the gold medal match against Moe Kiyooka at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya.
This is Antim’s second Asian Games medal after a bronze medal in the same category at the Hangzhou 2022 edition.
The Japanese wrestler took the lead early on in a closely-contested bout where neither player was able to dominate for long periods.
Trailing with time running out, Antim was forced to adopt a more aggressive style, and ceded several points in the closing stages of the match.
She is the first Indian woman to medal in wrestling at this edition of the Games. Her medal is the sixth in wrestling at this Games for India.
