Adames to face Welshman Warburton in non-title bout

Translate

WBC middleweight world champion Carlos Adames will make his Zuffa Boxing debut against Welshman Gerome Warburton on Saturday, 14 November, but his title will not be at stake.

Adames is to face Warburton in a headline 165-pound (11st 11lb, 74.8kg) catchweight bout in Zuffa Boxing's first event held in Saudi Arabia.

The 32-year-old, whose record is 25-1-1, will step into the ring for the first fight since defending his title against Austin 'Ammo' Williams in March.

Warburton, who boasts an 18-2-2 professional record, takes on the once-beaten Dominican after a decision win in Nathan Heaney's retirement match in September.

The Colwyn Bay middleweight defended his WBA continental title by beating Heaney and has previously stated his desire for a world title fight.

Warburton will have to wait longer for that opportunity, as Adames will not put his WBC strap on the line in Riyadh.

Australian boxer Jason Moloney will also make his Zuffa debut against Mexico's Andres Teran in a 10-round bantamweight co-main event.
