WWE icon Big E has married his longtime partner Kris Yim, and it marks a major personal milestone for the former WWE Champion. The couple got engaged in May 2025 after they made their relationship public two years earlier. The wedding starts a new chapter for Big E, who has been away from in-ring competition since he suffered a serious neck injury in 2022. He announced his retirement from wrestling last year, and in a June interview with Chris Van Vliet, he explained why risking his health again was not something he could imagine doing.

So the wedding finally happened, and it came after a long time of dating. Several big names from professional wrestling came to the ceremony. Yim also has a connection with WWE through her sister, Michin, who performs on SmackDown.
The marriage is a big personal moment for Big E, whose wrestling career changed after a serious injury. He joined WWE in 2009 through its developmental brand FCW, then moved to the main roster in 2012 as Dolph Ziggler's sidekick. Later he captured the Intercontinental Championship and became one of the most recognizable members of The New Day alongside Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. FCW in 2009, a broken neck in 2022: that gap covers nearly all of his career.
The group formed in 2014 and went on to win eight tag team championships together. Big E also became WWE Champion, which sits on top of those tag titles.
Big E Explains Why He Won't Risk an In-Ring Return
Big E suffered a serious neck injury in 2022 when Ridge Holland accidentally dropped him on his head during an episode of SmackDown. He fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrae, and doctors advised him to step away from in-ring competition. He officially announced his retirement last year.
In June, Big E spoke to Chris Van Vliet about his future and made it very clear that returning to wrestling was not something he wanted to risk, especially with marriage coming closer.
“I'm engaged. I'm about to get married in a few months. I can't fathom telling Kristen I'm gonna roll the dice with my health and my life again. I can't do that to her. To finally get to this point where I found my partner, who I want to do the rest of my life with, someone I adore. We have so much fun together,” he said.
Big E also explained that his broken C1 made a return like the ones Edge and Paige managed after their own neck issues something he could not pursue. So his decision puts his health and future with Yim before another run inside the ring. What comes next is up to him and his wife alone.
