Coronation Street's Andy Whyment brings in thousands of views online - but not for Kirk

Coronation Street star Andy Whyment has become a viral sensation, though his Kirk Sutherland's antics have nothing to do with it. The soap star's internet fame is to be credited to his love of Oasis, as he's set out to post renditions of the Manchester rock band to his social media.
For his "Oasis Files" series, Whyment has been performing the band's beloved classics, from 'Slide Away' and 'Don’t Look Back in Anger' to 'Half The World Away' and 'Songbird'.
The actor has also proved his guitar-playing skills accompanying himself on acoustic guitar.

The Corrie star's covers have become very popular, with his version of 'Hello' attracting more than 23,000 likes, 'Slide Away' passing 16,000 and 'Acquiesce' receiving over 7,500 likes.
Whyment's fans rushed to the comments section to express their appreciation, with one person commenting: "Don't Kirk Back in Anger", while someone else wrote: "You need to be the support act."
The soap actor is yet to address the success of his "Oasis Files" series and has kept humble. Noting on his 'Rockin' Chair' performance, he said: "My voice isn’t playing today but here we go another absolute tune!!"

Surprised by his vocal skills, one fan commented on Whyment's video for 'Half The World Away': "Wait our Kirk can sing?? How come this hasn't been featured in Corrie??", to which the actor jokingly replied: "I've always played Kirk as not being able to sing."
Meanwhile on the cobbles, Kirk and the rest of the Underworld staff are having a hard time thanks to Idris Nazir's scheming to get his hands on Carla's factory.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
