Beijing, China (ANTARA) - Indonesia and China are set to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation under their new foreign ministers, with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveying his congratulations to Indonesia's newly appointed Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir.

"Foreign Minister Wang Yi has sent his congratulations to Indonesian Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir," a spokesperson at the Chinese Foreign Ministry told ANTARA through a written statement, Thursday.

China also welcomed Sugiono's move from the Foreign Ministry to the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, with similar congratulations conveyed to him.

The Chinese government expressed its gratitude for Sugiono's contribution to advancing cooperation and partnership between Indonesia and China, according to the statement.

China is ready to continue working with its Indonesian partners to implement the strategic directions set by the two countries' respective leaders, strengthen coordination between their foreign ministries, optimize bilateral mechanisms and dialogue, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation across all sectors.

Beijing also expressed hope that the two countries can continue working together to take the building of a "community with a shared future for mankind" to a new level, with regional and global impact.

"China and Indonesia are important neighbors to each other and are comprehensive strategic partners," the statement added.

Arrmanatha Nasir was inaugurated as the new foreign minister, replacing Sugiono, who was appointed coordinating minister, during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace Complex on October 1.

Before becoming foreign minister, Nasir had served as deputy foreign minister, alongside Anis Matta and Arif Havas Oegroseno, since October 2024. As deputy foreign minister, he was tasked with managing multilateral diplomacy and representing Indonesia on the international stage.

A career diplomat, Nasir has served in various diplomatic roles, including as Indonesia's envoy to France and permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, as well as spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry.
