Former Bafana Bafana mentor sacked by Ghana!

Former Bafana Bafana Bafana mentor Carlos Queiroz has been sacked by the Ghana Football Association barely a month after hiring him.
Queiroz first took the job as Ghana coach prior to the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
He stepped down immediately after the tournament as he was only tasked with leading Ghana for the finals.
Ghana recalled Queiroz on 2 September to head the technical team for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
However, he has only overseen two qualifiers of which Ghana lost both of them, leading to Queiroz’s sacking.
Under Queiroz, Ghana lost 2-0 to Ivory Coast and 4-2 to the Gambia in their opening two AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
Those two results left the Black Stars at the bottom of the Group C log as they are yet to collect any points.

“This was not an easy decision, but both parties agreed that, under the present circumstances, ending our professional relationship was the most appropriate course of action, with the interests of Ghana, the Black Stars and Ghanaian football above everything else,” said Queiroz to the association’s media team.
“The necessary conditions were not fully established, and our recent performance added to the decision to bring this journey to an end,” he added.
QUEIROZ’S RECORD AS GHANA COACH
The 73-year-old former Bafana Bafana coach guided Ghana to their first FIFA World Cup knockout stages since 2010.
However, Queiroz‘s overall record as Ghana coach is not so impressive although his tenures were too short.
He was in charge of seven games across all competitions, won one, drew two and suffered four defeats.
