Amanda Camm to step down as Qld child safety and domestic violence minister

Translate

Embattled frontbencher Amanda Camm will step down as Queensland's child safety and domestic and family violence minister, the ABC understands.

The Whitsunday MP has faced months of intense scrutiny, including over children in residential care sleeping on the flood of child safety offices, and cuts to the DFV prevention sector in the latest state budget.

The ABC understands Ms Camm's resignation will trigger a mini reshuffle in the Queensland cabinet, the first movement in the frontbench since David Crisafulli came to power in 2024.

The premier will address the media shortly this morning.

Last month, it was revealed the number of Queensland children known to child safety who have died had gone up almost 60 per cent in a year.

It led the opposition to renew calls for Ms Camm to be sacked, labelling the state's child protection system a "crisis".

Mr Crisafulli swept to power promising ministerial accountability.
