He studied creative writing and English with a concentration in screenwriting at Southern New Hampshire University and interned as a writer/journalist for The Borgen Project, an influential organization that fights global poverty.

However, one of his proudest achievements is editing a Leonardo DiCaprio freakout compilation that has over 150K views on YouTube. Adam also fancies himself an amateur film critic on his personal website.

Nathan Fillion rose to fame as the charismatic and rebellious Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Fox's famously short-lived sci-fi series Firefly (2002), reprising the role in the film Serenity (2005). He later gained widespread recognition playing the lead in Castle (2009–2016), and since 2018, Fillion has portrayed Officer John Nolan in The Rookie and appeared in its spin-off, The Rookie: Feds.

Now, Nathan Fillion's new sci-fi series, Lanterns, is officially running out of steam on streaming. The DC series follows veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and young rookie recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as they investigate a brutal murder that quickly spirals into a massive extraterrestrial conspiracy. Nathan Fillion guest stars as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, reprising his role from Superman and Peacemaker (both 2025).

Lanterns Is Running Out Of Steam On Streaming

As of today, October 22, Lanterns has fallen to No. 7 on HBO Max's Top 10 shows in the United States. It ranks below 90 Day: Hunt For Love, War, The Pet Cemetery Murders: A Ghost Story, Halloween Baking Championship, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Youth, and above Sister Wives, The Serial Killer Connection, and Halloween Wars.

However, Lanterns remains No. 1 on HBO Max's Top 10 TV shows worldwide, ranking above Crystal Lake, Youth, Collision, War, Captive, La Promesa, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, Babylon Berlin, and Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Having premiered on August 16 and running for eight episodes through October 4, it's natural for Lanterns to drop on the charts. However, it remains No. 1 worldwide, showing that it hasn't run out of steam quite yet.

How Has Lanterns Been Received?

Lanterns reviews were positive, resulting in a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score, with critics praising it for offering an immersive and fantastical escape, with Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre captivating viewers through bold performances, compelling writing, and magnetic chemistry that brings their extraordinary world to life.

The show has received slightly less positive reviews from viewers, resulting in a 67% score from audiences, who have also praised it for blending superhero thrills with sophisticated drama – delivering a compelling and thoughtfully crafted mystery elevated by the undeniable chemistry between Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre.

With strong global rankings and solid reviews, Lanterns still has plenty going for it, so fans shouldn't count it out quite yet.
