‘You earn more than me, buy me a Thar’: Ludhiana woman slapped, kicked, dragged by hair by husband; CCTV emerges

CCTV footage depicts the disturbing encounter, while neighbors came to her aid upon hearing her screams

LUDHIANA: A 28-year-old woman in Ludhiana has alleged that her husband assaulted her over his demand for a vehicle. The woman, identified as Twinkle, submitted the CCTV footage to the Jagatpuri police post, alleging that her husband first demanded a Thar SUV and later a motorcycle.According to her complaint, her husband questioned why she could not buy him a vehicle when she "earned more than him" through her salon at Samrala Chowk. The dispute escalated when Twinkle fled to a neighbour’s house for help, she alleged. Her husband followed her and assaulted her on the road, according to the complaint. Neighbours intervened after hearing her screams.Twinkle said an earlier dispute over the vehicle demand had been settled through a mediator, but the issue resurfaced when her husband allegedly demanded a motorcycle. The couple married in November 2025. Twinkle has a seven-year-old son from her previous marriage, according to the complaint.Inspector Jasvir Singh, station house officer of Haibowal police station, said police were awaiting Twinkle’s medico-legal report (MLR).

A case would be registered in connection with the complaint, he said.
