Prime Video is the streaming service for those who want to check out one of the biggest movies in the world when it comes to streaming this weekend. On last weekend's Prime Video movie recommendations, I went over why subscribers might feel inclined to watch Mia Goth's slasher horror Pearl, the survival thriller Hungry, and the sci-fi action thriller The Tomorrow War.
The latter, which stars The Terminal List's Chris Pratt, was the only Prime Video original movie on the list. Out of those three options, only Hungry is currently trending on the streaming service, with the thriller at 1st on Prime Video in the United States at the time of writing. While it remains worth watching at the start of November, there are plenty of other movies in Prime Video's catalog for subscribers.
After all, several new movies arrived on Prime Video in November already, and more are set to do so throughout the month. With that in mind, I decided to pick two new additions to the streamer this month that Prime Video subscribers need to check out as soon as possible, and they come in different genres.
One of them is a psychological thriller starring Channing Tatum in a darker type of role that he does not usually play, which is intriguing, while the other is a hilarious comedy featuring Jennifer Lawrence, and with the actress having a major theatrical release on the way, it is timely. Joining them is a new post-apocalyptic thriller that has taken over the world. These are the best movies to watch on Prime Video this weekend:
3 No Hard Feelings (2023)
Let's start with Lawrence's comedy, as it is the most different option within our Prime Video movie recommendations, given that the other two are thrillers, albeit very different ones. No Hard Feelings sees Lawrence play Maddie, a woman hired by the wealthy parents of Andrew Barth Feldman's Percy to date him and help him with his sexual inexperience, though he is not aware of the arrangement, leading to plenty of hilarious and absurd moments.
Lawrence will return to the big screen on November 20 in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Feldman and Lawrence have fun chemistry together, setting up jokes and delivering on the punchline nicely, making No Hard Feelings a breezy watch that surprisingly packs a lot more heart than expected. It is important to note that No Hard Feelings is an R-rated sex comedy, so this is not the kind of movie for the whole family. That said, if you are looking for a fun feature to laugh along with charming stars, it serves its purpose well.
2 Blink Twice (2024)
Blink Twice comes with a talented ensemble, featuring actors like Channing Tatum, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Kyle MacLachlan, Naomi Ackie, and more, with the film serving as The Batman's Catwoman star Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut. For those who just watched Ackie in DC's Clayface movie, this feels like a fitting follow-up that puts her right in the spotlight in a dark, intense, and shocking story.
Tatum's charm is weaponized by Kravitz's film, with Blink Twice bringing out one of the actor's most electric performances in years when his character, the tech mogul Slater King, breaks bad. Ackie's Frida is just a regular woman out of her depth surrounded by unsettling billionaires on a private island, and when things take a dark turn, it becomes quite interesting seeing the psychological battle that ensues within the character. Blink Twice is as violent and shocking as a thriller can be, and it will leave Prime Video subscribers in awe.
1 Apocalypse Z: New World (2026)
Apocalypse Z: New World continues the intense tone and eerie atmosphere of Blink Twice, but with a post-apocalyptic thriller angle. This is a sequel to 2024's Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End, with the new release currently being the 2nd most-watched movie on Prime Video in the United States, and the streaming service's most popular film worldwide, according to FlixPatrol.
Apocalypse Z: New World follows a team being sent from the last safe haven in Europe, the Canary Islands, to Madrid in search of supplies. When they get there, the characters run into a zombie-infested city that presents them with many problems and surprises they could not have prepared for. Apocalypse Z: New World is perfect not only for zombie fans, but for those who enjoy a good high-stakes, fast-paced post-apocalyptic story. It promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats on Prime Video.
