Anderson .Paak and Cordae Bicker With Their Pants Off in ‘Step Brothers’-Inspired Album Teaser Video
Six years after Anderson .Paak teamed up with Cordae for “RNP,” the two artists have collaborated on an album as a duo. Heavy Is the Head, which follows the previous collabs “Two Tens” and “Summer Drop,” will come out on Oct. 23.
Paak teased the album on Instagram, saying, “We can’t wait for y’all to hear this one.” The accompanying teaser video shows the duo in argyle sweaters posing for a studio portrait that resembles the poster for Step Brothers. And just like the menchildren Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly portrayed in that 2008 comedy, the rappers start bickering in the clip with Paak pushing Cordae’s hand off his shoulder, before play-fighting. The fact that neither of them are wearing pants does not come up. (Cordae simply posted the album cover on his Instagram.)
The fracas in the video, of course, is a distraction from the music that’s playing in the background, ostensibly a song from the record, which is notable since the announcement didn’t come with a track list or a single. All we have to go on is a few lyrics: “Sippin’ on this brown liquor got me nostalgic/Plastic on couches, bitches in the kitchen of my …” And that’s all we get.
