Trump Aides Consider Putting His Name on Ford’s Theatre, Site of Lincoln Assassination

As President Donald Trump‘s efforts to put his name on the Kennedy Center have stalled, his staffers are looking for other buildings that might prove easier to alter, including Ford’s Theatre, where President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865.

According to MS Now, Ford’s Theatre is one of a number of buildings being considered, and it isn’t clear how far along discussions have gone. The news raised eyebrows because his first choice was associated with John F. Kennedy, his second Lincoln, and both presidents were assassinated in office. I mean what’s next, the Donald J. One anonymous source said that most ideas like this come from aides hoping to curry favor with the president. “They know flattery gets them everything,” the source said, adding that Trump’s view is, “Why would I say no? Everybody’s trying to please me.”

Ford’s Theatre is owned by the Interior Department and maintained by the National Park Service. Other locations reportedly under consideration include New York’s Penn Station, Virginia’s Dulles International Airport, and the new stadium for the Washington Commanders, alongside other landmarks. Legal observers expect that many of these buildings would be just as difficult for Trump to unilaterally rename as the Kennedy Center.
