Prime Video's brand-new thriller branded a "blast" and "preposterous nonsense" in divisive reviews

Kill Jackie, the brand-new series starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, is now streaming in the UK following its release on Prime Video. Though it boasts a stellar cast, the thriller has garnered a mixed response from critics.

The series is based on Aidan Truhen's 2018 novel The Price You Pay, with the action following wealthy art dealer Jackie Price (Zeta-Jones). Possessing a secret past, the figure becomes a target for some dangerous hitmen, but resolves to take them all down.

Zeta-Jones, who also serves as an executive producer on the series, is joined in the stacked cast by Daniel Ings, Ron Perlman, Darci Shaw, Julian Barratt, Bill Paterson, Christine Adams and Raff Law.

After being announced in February 2025, Kill Jackie is now finally streaming after all eight instalments dropped on Prime Video on Friday (2 October). But despite that good news, it has divided critics following its release.

At the time of writing, the thriller has a middling approval rating of 43% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the score being collated from 14 reviews. Though Zeta-Jones's performance has been praised, the narrative has come in for criticism.

You can read a selection of reviews below:

The Guardian

"Kill Jackie is preposterous nonsense that may, somewhere near inception, have wanted to be Killing Eve but rapidly realised that that is a lot harder than it looks, and settled for throwing everything at the wall and seeing what stuck."

The Hollywood Reporter

"Maybe Jackie's feeling blah because there simply isn't anything about her world worth getting excited over. Shallowly conceived and haphazardly constructed, Kill Jackie is a thriller fatally short on thrills."

The Age Australia

"It's a crime that Catherine Zeta-Jones hasn't used her native Welsh accent more across her career. But it's used to (occasionally indecipherable) perfection in this stylish thriller full of big swings, bizarre needle-drops and an off-kilter sense of humour."

TheWrap

"Kill Jackie is inarguably a stylish, kicky romp executed with obvious nods to the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie, and storytelling that recalls the cat-and-mouse hijinks of Killing Eve."

FandomWire

"The star's new vehicle is a sleek, violent thriller packed with dark humour, ruthless killers and wicked charisma. With the look and feel of a British graphic novel come to life... the series is a blast."
