Translate

A faith-based organisation, Heal The World Ministries International, has donated books worth N4m to three secondary schools in Ondo State to support educational development and promote reading culture among students.

The donation was made to The Apostolic High School, Ilara-Mokin; Comprehensive High School, Ilara-Mokin; and Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure.

According to a statement by Bunmi Olatomirin, the Publicity Secretary of The Apostolic High School Old Students Association, Ilara-Mokin, the donation was part of the organisation’s commitment to education, community service and the welfare of vulnerable people.

The statement quoted the convener of the ministry, Tola Olukilede, as describing the gesture as “an expression of genuine Christian worship and service,” adding that “faith should extend beyond religious observances to practical acts of love, kindness, generosity and compassion.”

He added, “Providing books for students is a meaningful way to support their academic development and contribute to the future of the country.

“Education remains a powerful tool for personal growth, social transformation and national development, and access to relevant learning materials could improve students’ academic performance and encourage reading.”

He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to its charitable activities, which include supporting widows and the needy and promoting education as a means of empowering individuals and communities.

The cleric also urged individuals, religious organisations, corporate bodies and other well-meaning Nigerians to support educational initiatives and interventions aimed at improving the welfare of society.

The National President of The Apostolic High School Old Students Association, Kehinde Ekunrin, appreciated the ministry and its convener for supporting students’ education.

Ekunrin said, “This donation is a welcome contribution to the academic development of the beneficiaries. Books are essential to improving students’ knowledge, reading habits and academic potential.”

He commended Olukilede for translating the ministry’s charitable vision into practical action and recognising education as a worthy cause deserving of support.

The association expressed hope that the gesture would encourage other alumni groups, organisations, philanthropists and public-spirited individuals to invest in education and support schools.

It also stressed the importance of partnerships among schools, charitable organisations and other stakeholders in creating an environment where students could learn, develop their abilities and prepare for responsible leadership.

The association thanked Heal The World Ministries International for the donation, describing it as a demonstration of how collective efforts could support educational development and contribute to the wellbeing of communities.
