NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday climbed atop a police barricade and waved the Tricolour as police stopped the INDIA bloc MPs’ march towards the Election Commission in Delhi.The opposition leaders are protesting against the Election Commission and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over electoral roll-related issues.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the PM Modi government of undermining citizens’ voting rights and alleged that the EC was acting under the government’s direction.

Kharge warned that people would not remain silent if their democratic rights were undermined, while Congress MPs Rajeev Shukla and Syed Nasir Hussain also demanded Kumar’s resignation."Look, we are fighting against the injustice of the fact that the government is stripping away everything—all the rights of the people. And today, the universal adult franchise that we received after Independence—this government is working to finish it off," Kharge said.
