Bicep Reveal First Album in Five Years, Drop Three New Songs

Translate

Northern Irish DJ duo Bicep have revealed details of their first album in five years. Slug arrives January 29 via Ninja Tune. Last month, Bicep shared three singles from the LP—“Air,” “Lemonder,” and “Viper”—and they’ve dropped another triptych alongside today’s announcement: “Gas,” featuring Lauren Duffus and Soarr; “Ultra,” featuring Eartheater and Saskia; and “Equarium,” featuring Kehina. The songs come with music videos directed by Young Replicant, which together form a short film about pigeon fanciers. Watch below.

The title Slug was inspired, according to press materials, by “the stark contrast between the land slug most people immediately picture and the extraordinary colours, shapes and intricate forms of their underwater counterparts.” “For this album we really wanted to massively broaden what we do,” they added in an accompanying statement. “We wanted to make a much more varied album than our previous ones and push what people might expect BICEP to sound like.”

Slug will mark Bicep’s follow-up to 2021’s Isles. The album features additional contributions from Clark, George Riley, and Sassy 009, among others. Bicep have also lined up a pair of new 2027 live dates: one at New York’s Knockdown Center on March 21, and one at London’s Old Royal Naval College on July 31.
