PlayStation Plus users are treated to releases from the PlayStation 2 era all the time, with several of the console's greatest titles gracing the platform every few months. The Classics Catalog has proven to be a hugely worthwhile investment for those willing to pay the Premium tier pricing, especially if you're excited about exploring the annals of PlayStation's greatest hits and its historically phenomenal library of games.

The most recent PS2 addition to PS Plus is a 2004 classic that fans will be extremely grateful to see added to the Classics Catalog. While not one of the better-known PS2 games, it still made a mark when it launched, resonating with fans and newcomers alike and proving to be a worthwhile experience. For those looking for their next vintage PlayStation classic to get stuck into, or simply those eager to make the most out of their PlayStation Plus subscription, this new addition is absolutely worth trying.

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers are getting a swathe of new games in September. Among them are the likes of RuneScape: Dragonwilds (which is finally launching into 1.0), the extremely unique horror title Slitterhead, the popular sports title WWE 2K26, and the legendarily good indie game, Ball X Pit. It's a strong lineup of games, but chief among them is the addition of the aforementioned PS2 classic from 2004, a title that, while not the most critically revered game, has garnered a cult following and a warmer reception today.

Ranking among the best forgotten PS2 games, Mega Man X: Command Mission is a hyper-stylized RPG that epitomizes the vibrant, cel-shaded aesthetic of the time and the rampant experimentation with popular series. Mega Man's foray into the world of role-playing games was a rather successful one, offering fans a completely new perspective on some of their favorite characters while completely overhauling the series' core design philosophies, art style, and even tone.

Mega Man X: Command Mission is a fine addition to the Classics Catalog, not least because it gives one of the PS2's most underrated RPGs a well-deserved second shot at the spotlight. It is an immensely creative game, one with an excellent soundtrack, phenomenal stylish combat, and a memorable story that utilizes Mega Man's greatest characters well. Even for non-Mega Man fans, Command Mission is a worthwhile experience.
