International concerts boost foreign tourist arrivals: Ministry

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa said international musical concerts in Indonesia are among the drivers of foreign tourist arrivals.
Puspa said here on Sunday that with many international concerts scheduled in Indonesia until the end of this year, she believes the target of 16 million foreign tourist visits in 2026 can be exceeded.
"We are optimistic in the remaining months (October, November, December) there will be many events. Recently there was Kanye West (Ye Live Concert Tour), then this November there is Guns N’ Roses, and later there will be BTS. We will certainly reach the 16 million target. Optimistic, maybe more than 16 million," she said.
According to her, the strong appeal of international entertainment was proven by the Kanye West concert in October, which drew more than 20,000 foreign tourists.

Besides the concerts, international sporting events, such as MotoGP racing and various other sports events, also attract foreign tourists.
Based on the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data for January to September period, foreign tourist visits to Indonesia grew 5.01 percent, with more than 12 million visits, she said. Meanwhile, domestic tourist movement grew above 4 percent.
Besides rising visit numbers, Puspa highlighted a trend of tourist visits spreading evenly across Indonesian destinations. Whereas Indonesian tourism was previously highly centered in Bali, tourist movement is now spreading across various regions.
"The spread is now comprehensive. So, the 10 Priority Tourism Destinations and three regenerative destinations (Bali, Jakarta, and Riau Islands) are quite high, and foreign tourist visits are growing there," she explained.
She assessed the combination of major events in the regions and the appeal of the destinations themselves is driving progress in Indonesia’s tourism sector.
