Rizwan instructed to appear before the NCCIA on October 2

Mohammad Rizwan has been instructed to appear before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on October 2 as the probe into the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter continues. The agency has written to Rizwan asking for his cooperation in the investigation against him, primarily with respect to the mobile phone that was taken from him in London last month.
Cricinfo has learned that the inquiry against Rizwan is with respect to the possibility of a breach of the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (2016). However, the specific charges against Rizwan remain unclear. In a legal letter sent on Tuesday, Rizwan requested the authorities to inform him of any charges he is facing.
Cricinfo understands that Rizwan intends to appear before the NCCIA as instructed, but will write to the agency before then, pressing them to reveal the charges, if any, against him.

This letter comes on the back of Rizwan's correspondence to the NCCIA on Tuesday. That came nearly two weeks after the Lahore High Court dismissed Rizwan's petition arguing that the NCCIA did not have jurisdiction over the matter.
In that ruling, the Lahore High Court instructed Rizwan to co-operate with the agency's proceedings, but asked the agency not to subject Rizwan to "harassment or unnecessary inconvenience". It also allowed Rizwan to approach a court with the relevant jurisdiction to recover items - primarily his mobile phone - which had not yet been returned to him.
In the letter, Rizwan argued that the NCCIA had failed to comply fully with the court's instructions, and requested the return of his mobile phone, which he had been assured would be handed back three hours after it was seized on August 31. He also pointed out that the agency had not made any contact with him to demonstrate compliance with the court's instructions and asked for all contact to be made through legal correspondence.
The NCCIA's letter is the latest development in the investigation into Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq following the fallout from Pakistan's defeat in the second Test against England, after which both playes were among those called back home immediately. While Imam opted to fill out the agency's questionnaire, Rizwan has chosen to seek legal counsel as the investigation runs its course.
