IDF soldiers kill suspect after arrest attempts fail

According to KAN News, the suspect was spotted by IDF soldiers as he approached the military post between the villages of Hader and Quneitra.

The suspect was fired upon after failing to comply with IDF commands as the soldiers attempted to arrest him, KAN reported.

Golan Regional Council Head Uri Kelner and Katzrin Local Council Head Yehuda Dua responded to the incidents in southern Syria, calling them "a warning sign that cannot be ignored."

"Precisely at a time when there is a sense of calm, we must not be misled or revert to the mindsets that prevailed before October 7," they said. "Alongside the IDF’s continued presence and operations in the Syrian theater, the State of Israel must continue to strengthen security measures in the Golan communities, Katzrin, and the Druze villages."

They pushed Israeli political leaders to commit to strengthening security in the Golan Heights.

"The security of Katzrin and Golan residents cannot depend on a temporary sense of calm," they emphasized. "Our residents are entitled to the same level of security that the State of Israel is committed to providing for all its citizens."
