Madhuri Dixit shares funny shoot memory of director crying on the trolley during a scene; Sonali Bendre reacts, 'Are you serious?'

Madhuri Dixit recently shared an amusing behind-the-scenes memory from one of her film shoots, recalling a director whose intense emotions often took over the set. The actress narrated how he would get overwhelmed while explaining scenes and even break down in tears during a shot, leaving her distracted.

Her anecdote left Sonali Bendre, who appeared as a guest on the show, ‘Kon Honar Crorepati’, both amused and incredulous.

Sonali Bendre asks Madhuri Dixit if she regrets any film

During the interaction, Sonali Bendre, seated in the hot seat, asked Madhuri Dixit, “Did you regret any film that you did?” In response, the actress, known for films such as ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ and ‘Devdas’, recalled working with a director whose highly emotional approach made the shooting experience challenging.Speaking in Marathi, Madhuri described the filmmaker as a “high-voltage” person who approached every scene with the same intensity. She explained that she would often suggest building up the emotion gradually, but the director would insist on doing things his way.“There was a little difficulty while working on one film because the director was a bit of a ‘high-voltage’ person. Every scene would begin at that level.

I would always argue that we should gradually build up to that point. He would say, ‘No, no, no... that’s not how it is.’ While explaining the scene to us, he would suddenly disappear somewhere because he would get extremely emotional. He would be sitting under the table, crying,” she said, as translated into English.

Madhuri Dixit recalls finding the director crying on a trolley

Madhuri went on to recount another incident from the same shoot. While filming a trolley shot and delivering her dialogue, she began hearing what sounded like someone sobbing.

The unexpected noise distracted her from the scene, prompting her to look around and discover that the director was sitting on the trolley, crying.“I was giving my shot, and it was a trolley shot. I was delivering my dialogue, saying, ‘Why did you do that?’ when I started hearing these ‘sob-sob’ sounds. I wondered what had happened. I got distracted and looked over, only to find my director sitting on the trolley and crying,” she recalled.

Sonali Bendre is left stunned by the anecdote

Sonali could not contain her laughter as Madhuri recounted the incident. Reacting with disbelief, she asked, “Are you serious?” Her response captured the sheer unexpectedness of the story, as Madhuri’s recollection offered a humorous glimpse into the unusual moments that can unfold behind the scenes of a film production.
