Chelsea Green defeats Lainey Reid on WWE Main Event

Green's match against Reid was not for the WWE Women's Championship, but the result still gave the champion a win going into SmackDown. The two women had met before in a singles match, and Green was on the losing side that time.

Reid had a chance to put herself back in contention for one more match against Green. A victory could have opened the door for a title opportunity, but the former Women's Tag Team Champion couldn't finish the job. Pretty big chance, honestly.

The match turned when Reid took control late on. Green managed to counter a knee attack and then connected with the Un-Pretty-Her to get the pinfall. It was a simple finish. But if you really look at it, an important win for Green after her recent loss on RAW.

The episode also featured several other names from WWE's roster. World Tag Team Champion Austin Theory defeated Otis, while WWE Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga teamed up against Fraxiom and won their non-title match. Sol Ruca also picked up a victory over Candice LeRae.

Four matches took place during the show's one-hour runtime, with champions getting more time in the spotlight on the newly streamed version of Main Event. Booking of this kind gives the show a stronger identity.

Chelsea Green prepares for a SmackDown title defense

Green's next big challenge is against Roxanne Perez, who defeated the champion in a non-title match on RAW last week. That loss happened after Green confronted Liv Morgan while WWE was building towards their Women's Crown Jewel Championship match.

Perez stepped up to face Green, with The Judgment Day's connection playing a role in the segment. Multiple interferences helped Perez to secure the victory, so she got some momentum before their upcoming championship match.

Now the stakes are more higher. Green is set to defend the WWE Women's Championship against Perez on SmackDown, and the challenger will get a chance for turning her recent win into a title change.

Green also has one more championship opportunity in sight at Crown Jewel. She is targeting the Women's World Championship held by Liv Morgan, which means she could become a double champion for a short time if she wins the honorary Crown Jewel title too.

The event is expected to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with no change to the venue situation mentioned in the report. Stay tuned for more updates.
