USABC issues eight measures to support RI's 8 percent economic growth

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) has released eight recommendations to support Indonesia's target to achieve 8 percent economic growth, aligning its proposals with the country's National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and the government's Asta Cita priorities.
USABC President and CEO Brian McFeeters said the recommendations, outlined in a white paper, were developed based on the experiences of member companies, the council's year-long dialogue with the Indonesian government, and discussions held during the Indonesia Business Mission.
"I would say the eight recommendations. I think it's a very high-quality product. There's a lot of good thought in there," McFeeters said during a media discussion in Jakarta on Friday.

The recommendations cover import modernization, deepening mutual trust in standards and certification, enhancing the government's technical capacity in the digital technologies, and improving regulatory predictability.
USABC also recommends the government to strengthen its role as a long-term investment partner, expand knowledge transfer and local capacity, balance foreign exchange reserves with reinvestment flexibility, and turning trade commitments into practical outcomes.
McFeeters said Indonesia remains one of the top markets in ASEAN attracting interest from US companies.
Alongside Vietnam and the Philippines, Indonesia consistently ranks among the destinations where USABC member companies seek to explore business opportunities and expand their operations.

Its appeal lies partly in its young, digitally savvy population and growth potential in technology, health, education, energy and agriculture, he said.
"The USABC is trying to find ways to build mutual trust between the government of Indonesia and the companies. The companies are here to make a profit, but they're here to obey the rules and follow the regulations that the government puts out; but they need clarity and consistency," McFeeters said.
Through the recommendations, McFeeters said USABC and its member companies hope to continue working with the Indonesian government to strengthen the investment climate, encourage sustainable business expansion, and broaden benefits of economic growth for communities, workers, local suppliers, and Indonesian businesses.
USABC is a business association representing more than 175 US multinational companies operating across various sectors in ASEAN.
