Naman Dhir was a surprise inclusion in the ODI squad for the ongoing series against West Indies and is seen as someone who can bat at six or seven while also giving the captain a fifth or sixth bowling option.
Though the Punjab all-rounder hasn’t had a chance to bat in the first two matches, he gave a decent account himself in the previous game in Guwahati with the ball, returning figures of none for 38 in 6.1 overs, even as West Indies managed 405.

“My thought was that I had one long boundary for right-handers, so I was just using that. I was bowling with simple plans; it was clear to me that if I get hit for shots or runs there, I’ll take that, but I won’t try to do anything extra on my own,” said Naman about his bowling on the eve of the third ODI here on Friday.
Commenting on the learnings from the series so far, Naman added, “I’ve talked a lot with Ravindra Jadeja. He gave tips on what line and length you need to bowl, and that was very helpful for me.”
