Kaizer Chiefs striker Duba makes Carling Knockout Cup history

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs are through to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Carling Knockout Cup following their 3-0 win over TS Galaxy on Tuesday night.

Wandile Duba scored a hat-trick on the night, and as a result, he made history in the colours of Amakhosi.

Duba opened his account in the 48th minute following what was a tough first half which ended in a goalless draw.

He completed his brace in the 63rd minute which was a penalty rebound that was initially missed by Mfundo Vilakazi.

The 22-year-old attacker made it 3-0 for Chiefs in the 66th minute, and that goal proved to be a final nail in the coffin.

Now, with the hat-trick against TS Galaxy, Duba became the first Chiefs to do that in this competition in the PSL era, according to OptaJabu.

No Amakhosi has scored thrice in a single match since 1996 under different sponsors – Coca Cola, Rothmans, Telkom and Carling Knockout Cup.
