Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch has just entered a new era ahead of two projects that could mark her Marvel Cinematic Universe return. Olsen has made Wanda Maximoff one of the most beloved characters in Marvel Studios' slate of projects. From someone manipulated by Ultron into going against the Avengers to an Avenger in her own right to someone wrestling with grief to a bloodthirsty villain, Wanda has done it all. Olsen's latest appearance in live-action for Marvel happened in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which saw the Scarlet Witch die, sacrificing herself to destroy all Darkholds in the multiverse.

That project was a controversial follow-up to the Scarlet Witch's story in one of the MCU's best TV shows, WandaVision. In that superhero series, Wanda created a Hex to live out her perfect life with Vision and a set of twin sons, even though she manipulated reality and enslaved Westview's population. WandaVision started an MCU trilogy that continued with the release of 2024's Agatha All Along, which explored the journey of Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness. Now, ahead of the final release in that MCU trilogy, the Scarlet Witch enters a new era as WandaVision has gone back to the top of streaming.
WandaVision Is Conjuring Up A New Spell On Disney+
At the time of writing, WandaVision has gone back to #8 on Disney+'s Top 10 TV Shows chart in the United States, according to FlixPatrol. Given how the MCU series debuted on the streaming service all the way back in 2021, the update is proof of how WandaVision has become an enduring success for Marvel and Disney+. Right now, Olsen's star vehicle leaves behind shows like The Drop: A Snowfall Saga and the animated Gravity Falls on Disney+'s domestic chart. At the top of the list is another TV show about magic, Coven Academy, which debuted on Disney+ on October 2.
WandaVision is not the only Marvel series on the Disney+ chart. Ranking above it is Tom Hiddleston's Loki, at 3rd. Like WandaVision, Loki has not released any new episodes in years, as the time travel series' second and final season arrived in 2023. However, Loki has been boosted by not only the fact that the character will return in December's Avengers: Doomsday, but also due to how both Hiddleston's Loki and other characters from the MCU series recently returned in new Avengers: Endgame Encore post-credits scenes. WandaVision's newfound streaming success is likely also a fruit of a similar situation.
The Awe-Inspiring Trilogy Is About To Come To A Close
Not only is WandaVision's new streaming success helped by the fact that it is a fitting Halloween release, with the show even having an episode themed after the holiday, but also by the impending conclusion to its MCU trilogy. Paul Bettany's Vision will return with the release of Marvel's VisionQuest on Disney+ on October 14.
The new MCU series is a direct sequel to WandaVision, exploring as Bettany's character wrestles with the memories of the original Vision, all while talking to other MCU AIs in his head, including James Spader's Ultron. WandaVision's surge on Disney+ indicates that viewers are getting a refresh ahead of the new release, while there is a chance that Olsen could return as the Scarlet Witch in either VisionQuest or Avengers: Doomsday.
