Onn Hafiz defends remarks PH wasting time in Melaka polls

Johor Barisan Nasional chief Onn Hafiz Ghazi has defended his remarks that Pakatan Harapan is merely “wasting time and money” by contesting the Melaka state election.
Onn Hafiz said his comments about PH were based on feedback and information he had received, and his own observations on nomination day, which he claimed showed that Melaka voters had responded positively to the cooperation between BN and Perikatan Nasional.
“Overall, the people of Melaka have responded positively to the BN-PN alliance.
“So, the momentum is strong and will be reflected in the results on Nov 14,” he told reporters after attending a campaign event in support of Dr Akmal Saleh, the BN candidate defending the Merlimau state seat.
Onn Hafiz also said he had been “attacked” during the Johor state election campaign, where he was described as “short, childish and unintelligent”.
“Those were the remarks they made while campaigning in Johor. But they weren’t called arrogant for saying that,” he said.
Previously, PKR deputy secretary-general Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad described Onn Hafiz as shallow, and said his remarks reflected an arrogant attitude towards politics.
He said Onn Hafiz should understand the principles of democracy, given that he himself became Johor menteri besar through the formation of a government based on an electoral mandate.
