England women’s head coach Sarina Wiegman has signed a contract extension that will keep her in charge until the end of the 2029 Women’s European Championship, the Football Association confirmed on Monday.
The Dutchwoman took over the role in September 2021, and guided England to its first major women’s trophy at Euro 2022 and successfully defended the title three years later.

Her tenure also included a run to the final of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where England was beaten by Spain.
“I am so happy to be able to carry on with this squad and cannot think of a better job in football,” Wiegman said in a statement.
England still has work to do to reach the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The side will meet Ukraine in a two-legged playoff in November and December, with qualification on the line.

“Anyone who knows me will understand that my main concern right now is absolutely the World Cup and helping this squad realise their potential in the years to come,” the 56-year-old added.
“We have an important job to do to confirm our place in Brazil and hopefully we can do that and give the country another special summer to remember next year,” she concluded.
