The runways of existing and future airports must now have a length of at least 2,100 meters in order to accommodate larger aircraft, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has approved on final reading a measure seeking to renew for another 50 years the franchise granted to Cebu Air Inc., operating as Cebu Pacific. During Monday’s session, 289 lawmakers voted to pass House Bill No. 11536, with no one opposed or abstaining.

Under the proposed bill, Cebu Air will receive a new 50-year term from the expiration of its franchise under Republic Act No. 7151.

The budget airline’s current franchise is set to expire on Aug. 30, 2031, as it was given 40 years to operate from the date of the approval of the law.
