Malen withdraws from Netherlands squad after Roma injury scare

Roma striker Donyell Malen has been on extraordinary form at club level, but he will not participate in the Nations League with the Netherlands due to injury.
The announcement came from the official Oranje website and was something of a surprise, as he had not seemed injured after the 2-2 draw with Inter on Saturday.
It is not specified what the physical problem is, only that Malen has withdrawn from the Netherlands squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures.
Malen out of Netherlands team
They are in Group 2 with Germany, Serbia and Greece, beginning their campaign against the Germans on September 24.
Guus Til and Mexx Meerdink have been called up to replace injured Justin Kluivert and Malen.
The 27-year-old has scored six goals in five Serie A appearances for Roma so far this season, along with one assist in a single Champions League game.
His record for the Dutch national team is 13 goals in 56 senior caps, making his debut in September 2019.
It is the second blow for Roma, as Wesley also withdrew from the Brazil team for international duty with a muscular issue.
