Police have charged a 29-year-old man with murder a day after finding his twin brother's body in the backyard of their home in a south Perth suburb.

A family member was visiting the home in Orelia on Thursday when, police said, they contacted authorities with welfare concerns.

Officers who went to the property discovered the body in the backyard.

Homicide squad detectives have charged Ashley Bruno Grillo with one count of murder. He is due to appear in court today.

Mr Grillo has been in police custody and had been taken to a hospital to receive medical treatment for an unspecified condition.

Detective Acting Superintendent Jessica Securo said on Friday police had seized blades from the home which could have been used as weapons.

The body had "obvious injuries", and police were treating the death as a suspected family violence homicide, Acting Superintendent Securo said.

Forensics officers examined a patch of upturned soil in the property's backyard after the body was discovered.
