A "distinctive" Channel 4 drama starring Nicola Coughlan and Joe Cole finally has a release date. I Am Helen is the latest drama from BAFTA-winning filmmaker Dominic Savage, best known for his work on Close to You as well as the I Am... series.

The show, starring Derry Girls' Coughlan and Peaky Blinders' Cole, is the latest in the critically acclaimed anthology series exploring the experience of womanhood, which began in 2019.

The two-part show will air on Monday, 16 November, and Tuesday, 17 November, on Channel 4.

The first will air at 9pm, while the second airs at 9.15pm. Both will be available to stream on Channel 4 after the first has aired.

A synopsis teases: "Produced by award-winning Me+You Productions, the latest instalment of the critically acclaimed BAFTA-winning anthology series explores the experience of womanhood within a world shaped by masculine power, aggression, and control.

"Told through a female lens, the story examines the pressures and expectations placed on women while confronting the realities of toxic masculinity and the damage it can create in modern relationships."

It continues: "Known for its distinctive, improvisational approach, the series shines a light on the complexities of women’s lives, relationships and identities – this time, the story was developed by Savage with Nicola Coughlan."

Previous episodes of the drama have featured Kate Winslet, Suranne Jones, and Lesley Manville.

Speaking about the project last year, Big Mood star Coughlan said: "It's an absolute honour to be part of telling the next I Am… story alongside Dominic Savage – a singular talent and a storyteller deeply committed to exploring the breadth of the female experience.

"To follow in the footsteps of the brilliant women who've collaborated with him on this series feels truly surreal, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be embarking on this journey."

I Am Helen premieres at 9pm on Monday, November 16, on Channel 4.
