Kenyan digital content creator Millicent Ayuwa, popularly known as Dem wa Facebook or Mama Twins, has opened up about her humble beginnings, career growth and personal life in a candid interview.

Speaking to Mpasho’s Kalondu, the 27-year-old influencer reflected on her childhood, revealing that her family gave her a traditional nickname that described her energetic nature.

“Walikuwa wananiita kwa Kiluhya Nangendo—msichana mwenye hakuwa anakaa chini,” she said.

Standing at five feet tall, Dem wa Facebook will turn 28 later this year. Before becoming a recognisable personality across social media platforms, she worked hard to earn a living, starting with a modest business selling socks on the streets.

Asked about her first job, she simply responded, “Kuuza socks.”

Her journey from street vending to digital content creation has since opened doors to brand endorsements, content monetisation and major business deals.

The influencer revealed that she earned her first KSh1 million in 2023, describing a significant milestone in her financial journey and growing online career.

Dem wa Facebook on Her Private Life

Despite her popularity and frequent interactions with fans online, Dem wa Facebook remains guarded about certain aspects of her personal life.

During the interview, she was asked whether her children would ever be introduced to the public. She playfully avoided giving a detailed response.

“Will we ever see your baby? No,” she said.

Her response offered a glimpse into her approach to privacy, even as she continues to share aspects of her life and career with her online audience.

Alikiba’s Music Holds Relationship Memories

The content creator also spoke about her musical preferences, naming Tanzanian Bongo Flava star Alikiba as one of her favourite musicians.

She recalled how his hit song Dodo became part of the soundtrack to a past relationship shortly before it ended.

Dem wa Facebook broke into song during the interview, recalling the lyrics and the memories associated with the track.

“Aliniimbia wimbo nikiwa kwa relationship ya ex wangu before aniache… Kupendwa ni vitendo, si maneno maneno,” she sang.

Her recollection added a personal touch to the interview, blending humour, music and memories from her romantic life.

From Hawking Socks to Digital Success

Dem wa Facebook’s story highlights her journey from selling socks on the streets to building a career in Kenya’s digital entertainment industry.

Through consistent content creation, she has grown her online presence and attracted commercial opportunities, including brand partnerships and monetisation deals.
