Billy Bob Thornton To Host Mayflower Docudrama For Fox Nation

Billy Bob Thornton is the latest star to team up with Fox Nation.

The Landman actor is hosting a three-part docudrama about the Mayflower for the streamer. Billy Bob Thornton Presents: The Mayflower will reveal the “complex” history of the Mayflower voyage, the First Thanksgiving and the events that forever shaped the nation, per the logline.

It will trace the Pilgrims’ perilous Atlantic crossing aboard the Mayflower, the “fragile” alliance forged between the English settlers and the Wampanoag people, and the “devastating” conflict that ultimately transformed Britain’s colonies into the earliest foundations of an American identity.

Premiering on November 23, the team behind the series consulted experts including historians at Plimoth Patuxet Museums, where portions of the series were filmed, as well as historian Nathaniel Philbrick, author of the Pulitzer Prize finalist Mayflower: A Story of Courage, Community, and War.

It is produced by Jordan Rosenblum’s AIRtime Projects and Terminal B TV with exec producers including Thornton, Rosenblum, Geyer Kosinski, Tom Forman, David Metzler and John Ealer, who serves as showrunner.

Fox Nation is behind series including Dan Akroyd’s A History of the World in Six Glasses and The Saints from Martin Scorsese.

Lauren Petterson, president of Fox Nation, said “Billy Bob Thornton is a captivating storyteller with a unique ability to bring history to life. The Mayflower offers a fresh and thought-provoking perspective on one of the most familiar chapters in American history, giving viewers a richer understanding of the people, conflicts and events that shaped our nation’s beginnings.”
