Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn Officially Returning With New Book Fall 2026

Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.

Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

Creating an entire universe is no easy task, but it is something that author Brandon Sanderson has managed over his career. With multiple book series under his belt, he has managed to create the Cosmere universe, and whilst it may be home to incredible characters, locations, and most importantly, stories, it comes as no surprise that we all have our favorites, and Mistborn is definitely one of them.

Beginning back in 2006 with the publication of The Final Empire, the Mistborn series has since welcomed six more books split across multiple 'eras'. With the Third Era, titled 'Ghostbloods' fast forwarding us to a world filled with 1980s/1990s technology, it is a far cry from where the series started.

Telling the story of Allomancers, people who are able to inherit magical powers by consuming metal, the Mistborn world is one of the most successful fantasy series of all time, so it is no wonder that it has a dedicated fanbase behind it who are excited to see Sanderson's world continue to grow. However, if you are struggling to wait for the next installment, you are in luck, as a brand-new book inspired by Mistborn is set to launch this Fall.

Over on the official Cosmere site, it has been revealed that official Mistborn RPG sourcebooks are set to go live later this year and will include a handbook and world guide, as well as a legacy adventure for those who want to begin a campaign in the hit Cosmere RPG experience.

As the official description reads: "The Cosmere RPG continues in three core hardcover books based on Brandon Sanderson's best-selling Mistborn series. The Mistborn Handbook and Mistborn World Guide provide lore and rules for Mistborn Era 1 and Era 2, allowing you to build a campaign in either setting. The Mistborn Legacy adventure explores both settings with a story that unfolds over generations."

The Cosmere Roleplaying Game is a character-driven TTRPG experience created by Brotherwise Games in partnership with Brandon Sanderson’s company, Dragonsteel Entertainment. As such, players will be able to immerse themselves in Sanderson's world, with inspiration taken from both the Mistborn and Stormlight Archives universes.

Now, you will be able to learn about both the TTRPG and the universe as a whole thanks to these handy Mistborn guides, so even if you do not partake in the hit board game, you will still get something from these exciting new releases.

Alternatively, if TTRPGs are not your thing, you will be pleased to hear that The Mistborn Deckbuilding Game is also available to purchase. It offers solo, co-op and competitive play, and perhaps most exciting, is the news that it is set to welcome an expansion later this year inspired by The Well of Ascension.

So, if you are a fan of Sanderson's work, you will be pleased to learn that there is plenty to get stuck into whilst waiting for the next book.
