“Mentally I’m Not Okay, I Need Prayers”-Mosiria Responds to Critics

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has addressed the public backlash and criticism he faces over his humanitarian initiatives supporting women, children, and vulnerable community members across the capital.

In a candid statement published on his Instagram account on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Mosiria expressed emotional distress over derogatory labels—specifically being referred to as “mumama”—arising from his grassroots interventions.

The remarks follow an escalating public dispute and legal fallout between Mosiria and media personality Oga Obinna.

Defending his community outreach, Mosiria clarified that his interventions are prompted by direct distress calls from citizens rather than publicity motives, noting that he frequently assists widows, single mothers, neglected children, and vulnerable youth facing severe hardships.

“Kwa nini inauma na ni uchungu sana kuita mwanaume mwenzako mumama juu anasaidia wamama, watoto, wajane, single mothers na vulnerable boychild ambao wanateswa?” Mosiria posed. “Sio kupenda kwangu, ni vile wananipigia simu wakilia, ‘Mosiria tusaidie.’ Najinyima usingizi na joto ya kitanda ili niwasaidie.”

The County Chief Officer admitted that the continuous public ridiculing and targeted political hostility have taken a heavy toll on his mental well-being, calling on Kenyans for moral support and prayers as he navigates his official duties.

“Tangu niitwe mumama, mentally I’m not okay, and I need prayers and support from Kenyans,” Mosiria stated, alleging that certain political figures have sought to undermine his public service work. “Nimeteswa sana na viongozi ambao hawataki kuona nasaidia. Sikujua Kenya ukijituma kufanya kazi unakuwa adui ya viongozi.”
