Nuru Okanga Celebrates Massive Turnout at Linda Mwananchi Rally

Political commentator and social media personality Nuru Okanga has celebrated the massive turnout at the Linda Mwananchi rally held at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi.

Okanga shared his message on Monday, September 14, 2026, a day after Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino led thousands of supporters in the political gathering.

In his post, Okanga highlighted the growing political influence of Raila Odinga, Babu Owino and Sifuna, using a wordplay-filled slogan to describe the perceived succession of opposition figures.

He portrayed Babu as the political figure who comes after Raila, before turning his attention to Sifuna and associating himself with the Nairobi senator and the movement behind him.

“Tuliwaambia, baada ya Baba ni Babu, na bila Babu ni tabu. Alafu tunamalizia kwa kusema, sisi ni Sifuna,” he wrote.

Okanga also thanked Jacaranda residents and supporters for turning up in large numbers before ending his message with a political sign-off.

“Asanteni sana, Jacaranda. ❤️ WANTAM!” he wrote.

Highly charged Linda Mwananchi rally

Okanga’s remarks came a day after a highly charged Linda Mwananchi mobilisation in Nairobi that went ahead despite prior warnings from security agencies.

Authorities had cautioned the organisers against entering the Nairobi Central Business District, citing concerns over security and the possibility of disorder during the planned procession.

Despite the warnings, Sifuna’s convoy entered the CBD, where the senator addressed traders at Marikiti Market and sought their support ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The day began with a church service at All Saints Cathedral before supporters joined the procession through parts of Nairobi, with the mobilisation later moving along Jogoo Road towards Jacaranda Grounds.

Thousands of supporters followed the procession, turning the event into a major political gathering in Eastlands.

By the time the leaders arrived at Jacaranda Grounds, the venue was packed with supporters, providing a significant show of strength for the Linda Mwananchi movement.

Babu, Sifuna draw strong support

Babu Owino received particularly strong backing from the crowd, with supporters chanting in support of his ambitions to become Nairobi governor in the 2027 elections.

Sifuna also commanded significant attention, with his supporters presenting him as a potential presidential contender in the next General Election.

Siaya Governor James Orengo and politician Millicent Omanga were among the prominent figures who joined the two leaders at the rally, adding further political weight to the gathering.

The leaders used the platform to criticise President William Ruto’s administration, particularly over governance, democracy and the rising cost of living.

They also called on Kenyans to defend their constitutional rights and remain engaged in the country’s political affairs.

Growing political activity ahead of 2027

The large turnout at Jacaranda came amid increasing political activity across the country as opposition figures seek to consolidate their support bases ahead of the 2027 General Election.

For Sifuna and Babu, the Nairobi rally provided an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to mobilise large crowds while taking the Linda Mwananchi message directly to residents.

Okanga’s reaction also reflected the growing political symbolism attached to the two leaders, particularly among supporters who view them as part of the next generation of opposition figures.
