Euromatch NPFL: Atune Unruffled By Bendel Insurance’s Defeat To Ranchers Bees

Bendel Insurance assistant coach Jolomi Atune remains unfazed by his side’s 2-1 defeat to Ranchers Bees in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

The Benin Arsenals suffered the setback in a matchday four encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano last Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Chiedozie Jude Okorie broke the deadlock for the hosts in the 49th minute.

Insurance responded in the 66th minute through Lekan Gabriel, who restored parity for the visitors.

However, Mohammed Rabiu Zulkifilu struck 11 minutes from full-time to secure all three points for Ranchers Bees. The goal was Zulkifilu’s fifth of the season for the NPFL newcomers.

Atune Confident Insurance Will Bounce Back

Reflecting on the defeat, Atune played down the setback and expressed confidence that the Benin Arsenals would recover.

“All is well. The result wasn’t favourable. You win some and lose some; that’s the game,” Atune told Eaglessports Radio.

“The game wasn’t bad. Both teams did their best, but in football, one side must win.

“There are no regrets about the result. The journey is still far; it’s a marathon.

“I will say the goals we conceded were as a result of a loss of concentration, but we will get it right. This team is still a work in progress.”

Kennedy Boboye’s side will look to return to winning ways when they host Ikorodu City in their matchday five fixture at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Wednesday.
