An ActionSA activist in KwaZulu-Natal, Victoria Ntombi Mkhize, was allegedly murdered outside her home just days before the 2026 Local Government Elections.

ACTIONSA ACTIVIST ALLEGEDLY MURDERED IN KWAZULU-NATAL
In a statement, ActionSA KwaZulu-Natal chairperson Zwakele Mncwango said Victoria Mkhize was an active supporter of the party who regularly attended its meetings.
“We call on the police to urgently investigate this horrific killing and bring those responsible to justice,” he said.
The party also confirmed that, in a separate incident, the home of its ward candidate in the Umbayi area of Tongaat was completely destroyed by fire.
Mncwango said the party was concerned by allegations that Tongaat Police Station had refused to open a case regarding the incident.
“We are also concerned by allegations that Tongaat Police Station refused to open a case regarding the incident. We will visit the police station to establish why the case was reportedly not registered.
“While we cannot speculate about the motives behind these incidents, their timing, just days before elections, is deeply concerning. We call on SAPS to urgently investigate both incidents to ensure the safety of political candidates, activists and their families. Political differences must never lead to violence or loss of life,” Mncwango said.
ANOTHER WARD CANDIDATE’S HOME ALLEGEDLY TORCHED
Earlier on Monday, The South African reported that ActionSA has called on law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the burning down of the home of one of its councillor candidates in the North West.
The party wanted authorities to establish the cause of the fire and determine whether there was any malicious intent behind the incident.
The house, belonging to the party’s Ward 12 councillor candidate in Ramotshere Moiloa, was allegedly burnt down on Sunday, 1 November.
