Asian Games: Malaysia-Thailand takraw rivalry part 2

NAGOYA: The Malaysian contingent, who have met their six-gold target at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games with less than a week to go, look to build on their achievements today.

They will have medal chances across a number of sports, alongside key preliminary and elimination fixtures.

In sepaktakraw, both gold and national pride will be on the line when Malaysia lock horns again with traditional rivals Thailand in the men's inter-regu final. Days earlier, Malaysia had ended a 36-year wait by toppling Thailand in the team regu final.

In diving, Nur Eilisha Rania and Pandelela Rinong will feature in the women's 10m platform preliminaries, aiming to qualify for the afternoon final. Syafiq Puteh and Yong Rui Jie will take part in the men's 3m springboard preliminary round, with hopes of securing places in the evening final.

In track cycling, national riders will kick off their campaign at the Izu Velodrome with Nur Alyssa Farid, Izzah Izzati Asri and Aliana Azizan competing in the women's team sprint qualification.

Akmal Jusena, Fadhil Zonis, and Ridwan Sahrom will feature in the men's team sprint qualification, with both squads targeting the final rounds later today.

In athletics, Grace Wong takes to the field in the women's hammer throw final.

In archery, Quik Chern Xin faces Kyrgyzstan's Emirbek Mashev in the men's recurve individual 1/24 round, while Evan Rich Chong meets Vietnam's Nguyen Duy in the 1/16 round elimination stage.

In women's recurve individual, Joey Tan faces Kyrgyzstan's Tynalieva Eliza in the 1/24 round, while Ariana Nur Dania Mohamad Zairi meets India's Choirunisa Diananda in the 1/16 round.

In eSports, Malaysia will take on Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang group stage, while also meeting the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia in League of Legends group fixtures.

The PUBG Mobile squad will contest matches 7 to 12 on the final day of their event, while the Identity V team face Vietnam in the group stage.

In cricket, the men's squad go head-to-head with Bangladesh in the quarter-finals.

In squash, the women's team continue their group stage campaign against Singapore in pool A.

In sport climbing, Ke Qun Tao will compete in the men's boulder semi-final.
