NAGOYA, Japan, Oct. 1 (Yonhap) -- PGA Tour winner Kim Joo-hyung and LIV Golf member Mun Do-yeob are two strokes off the lead at the halfway point of the men's golf tournament at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Kim, better known as Tom Kim on the U.S. circuit, carded a four-under 66 with five birdies and a bogey in the second round Thursday at Kasugai Country Club East Course in Kasugai, just northeast of the main host city of Nagoya. At seven-under 133 through 36 holes, Kim trails Wang Wei-hsuan and Ding Wenyi of China by two shots.

Mun is also at seven-under, after shooting three-under 67 on Thursday with five birdies and two bogeys.

Kim Seong-hyeon, the third South Korean player, is at one-under 139 following a round of 71.

In the team rankings, with the two best scores from each round added for the team total, South Korea is in third place at 14-under 266. Japan is leading the way at 16-under, with China in second place at 15-under.

With either the individual or the team gold medal here, both Kim Joo-hyung, 24, and Kim Seong-hyeon, 28, will receive exemption from the mandatory military service -- which in turn would set them up for uninterrupted tour careers overseas. Mun has already fulfilled his duty.

In the women's tournament that concluded earlier in the day, teen prospect Yang Yun-seo kept herself in contention for an individual medal at the midway point.

Yang, 18, shot a five-under 65 in the second round with seven birdies and two bogeys.

At seven-under through 36 holes, Yang is tied for third with the six-time LPGA Tour winner from China, Yin Ruoning. They are six strokes behind the leader, Shannon Xuan Yin Tan of Singapore.

Two other South Koreans took a step back, with Kim Gyu-been and Park Seo-jin both shooting 73s. Kim is at 1-over for the tournament, with Park at 4-over.

For the team standings, South Korea went two-under Thursday to sit tied for fourth at six-under overall.

China is leading the team competition at 12-under, one shot better than Singapore and five ahead of India.

The golf tournament will conclude Saturday.
