Translate

The report comes from veteran journalist Robert Marawa. He claims Jessica Motaung could leave her day to day commercial duties.

However, she is reportedly expected to remain on the Kaizer Chiefs Board of Directors.

JESSICA MOTAUNG SET FOR NEW ROLE?

The development would represent a major change at Naturena. Motaung has been one of the club’s most important commercial figures for decades.

“Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly set for a change in their commercial structure, with Jessica Motaung expected to step down as Marketing Director,” Marawa reported.

“However, she is reportedly set to remain on the Amakhosi board. The move comes months after Bheki Shongwe was appointed Group CEO, raising questions about a possible restructuring at Naturena.

The timing is also significant. Kaizer Chiefs appointed Bheki Shongwe as Group Chief Executive Officer in May 2026. Shongwe returned to the club in a senior leadership role. He previously served as Managing Director between 2009 and 2012.

His appointment was part of a wider effort to strengthen the club’s corporate and commercial operations. If confirmed, Motaung’s reported change in role would add another major development to the restructuring at Naturena.

HOW LONG HAS MOTAUNG BEEN AT KAIZER CHIEFS?

Motaung has been part of Kaizer Chiefs for more than two decades. Her journey with the club began in 1998. She joined after building a career in modelling and media.

She was appointed Marketing Manager in 2003. Four years later, she became Marketing and Commercial Director. Motaung has held the position for many years. She has played a major role in developing the Kaizer Chiefs brand.

Her work has covered several areas of the club’s commercial operation. These include marketing, digital platforms and commercial partnerships.

She has also been involved in expanding the club’s retail and licensing activities.

WHAT HAS MOTAUNG DONE OUTSIDE THE CLUB?

Motaung’s influence has extended beyond Kaizer Chiefs. Her work at club level helped open doors in African and global football administration.

She joined the CAF Organising Committee for Women’s Football in 2022. In 2023, she was elected Deputy Chairperson of the African Clubs Association.

Her biggest international appointment came in 2025. Motaung was named to the FIFA Men’s Football Stakeholders Committee. Her term runs for four years until 2029.
