Miva Open University inaugurates Kaduna study centre

Miva Open University has opened a study centre in Ungwan Sarki, Kaduna State, as part of efforts to expand access to flexible higher education and bring its academic support services closer to students.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tayo Arulogun, said the centre was part of the institution’s efforts to make education more accessible while complementing its online-first model with physical opportunities for students to connect and receive support.

Arulogun said the centre would provide students with academic support, opportunities for interaction and access to university activities.

He said, “The launch of our Kaduna Study Centre is another step towards making education accessible and bringing the Miva experience closer to more students.

“We recognise that accessibility goes beyond providing an online learning platform; it is also about creating opportunities for students to connect, engage and receive the support they need.”

He urged students and members of the wider community to make use of the new facility.

A Master of Information Technology student of the university, Fareedah Misbakhun, who attended the inauguration, said the Kaduna centre would provide her with an alternative environment for studying.

“As someone who loves to read outside my home, in a quiet environment, having a centre in Kaduna that provides me with such an opportunity is a very beautiful development for me,” she said.

The Kaduna facility is the latest addition to Miva’s network of study centres across the country, following the establishment of centres in Uyo, Abeokuta and Ibadan.

The university said the expansion was driven by its growing student population and geographical footprint, with the centres designed to complement rather than replace its online learning platform.

At the Kaduna commissioning were a lecturer at Miva Open University, Dr Abubakar Ijoko; Chief People Officer, uLesson Group, Oladipo Olugbemi; Prof Tayo Arulogun; and the Head, Community Growth and Brand Experience, Miva Open University.
