Esteemed vocal group Boyz II Men has inked a deal with Warner Records Nashville, with plans to release a country album next year.

“Boyz II Men’s global influence is decades in the making,” Warner Records Nashville chair and president Cris Lacy said in a statement. “Every genre and culture has benefited from their original music, and their impact on artists in the current country landscape, while perhaps surprising to some, is quite profound. When I learned that growing up listening to artists like Randy Travis was seminal in their desire to collaborate with Nashville’s award-winning singers and songwriters, I knew we had to be a part of it. They were pioneers at a time when media brought fans access to all types of music. History repeats itself, and it’s the perfect time for Boyz II Men and those they inspired to make some magic together!”

Recently, Boyz II Men teamed with country trio Lady A for the song “I Love The One,” which will appear on the upcoming musical project inspired by the faith-based series The Chosen. That is far from the first country-leaning initiative Boyz II Men has been involved with; in 2019, the group joined Brett Young for an episode of CMT Crossroads. That same year, the group teamed with bluegrass group Steep Canyon Rangers for a rendition of “Be Still Moses,” the title track to Steep Canyon Rangers’ 2020 orchestral album.

Boyz II Men launched from Philadelphia with its 1991 debut album Cooleyhighharmony, and have since become known for enduring ballads including “End of the Road,” “One Sweet Day” and “On Bended Knee.”

To date, Boyz II Men has earned accolades including four Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, three Billboard Music Awards, nine Soul Train Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The group has also been part of or spearheaded projects in film, TV, sports and fashion.

“These guys are more than a vocal group — they are entertainers,” Boyz II Men manager Joe Mulvihill said in a statement. “From appearing in a film with Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron, to participating in golf events alongside Mark Wahlberg, Derek Jeter and Hootie & the Blowfish, to collaborating with Jordan Brand on the landmark 30th-anniversary Air Jordan 11, they have consistently shown their range and their ability to reshape the traditional artist model.”

Warner Records Nashville is home to artists including Cody Johnson, Ashley McBryde, Bailey Zimmerman, Chris Janson and Jamey Johnson.
