Prime Video Officially Decides Fate of Mike Flanagan’s New Stephen King Series

Nobody has ever needed a fresh start more than Carrie White. Unfortunately, being a teenager with telekinetic powers tends to make an already miserable high school experience considerably more complicated. Mike Flanagan brought Stephen King’s most famous prom queen back to the screen this month, with Summer H. Howell stepping into a role that comes with some very bloodstained shoes to fill.
His version of Carrie was also released with a heavy but interesting question hanging over it: How do you keep audiences guessing when the bucket of pig’s blood is practically part of horror’s basic vocabulary? For Flanagan, the answer involved giving the familiar story room to grow beyond the night everyone was waiting for, opening up possibilities that previous adaptations largely left alone.
Prime Video has officially renewed Carrie for Season 2, with Flanagan returning as showrunner and executive producer alongside fellow executive producer King. The announcement follows a formidable October 7 debut, with the streamer reporting that the series reached No. 1 in more than 105 countries worldwide. Apparently, a disastrous prom is quite the international draw.
